Professional Standards
Code of Ethics
The ethical principles and enforceable rules that guide every therapist and every session at Vita Mobilis.
Effective July 2026 · Informed by the AMTA Code of Ethics
Vita Mobilis Therapeutic Massage is committed to the highest standards of professional and ethical practice. Every therapist at Vita Mobilis adheres to the following code, which reflects and extends the standards set by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). This code is not aspirational — it is the floor, not the ceiling.
Principles of Ethics
The following principles define the character of ethical practice at Vita Mobilis.
1. Commitment to Quality of Care
We demonstrate commitment to providing the highest quality therapeutic massage to every client who seeks our care, regardless of their condition, background, or circumstance.
2. Respect for Every Individual
We acknowledge the inherent worth and individuality of each person. We do not discriminate or behave in any prejudicial manner based on race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, disability, or any other characteristic.
3. Ongoing Professional Development
We demonstrate professional excellence through regular self-assessment and continued education. We know our strengths, recognize our limitations, and actively pursue growth in clinical knowledge and technique.
4. Client Confidentiality
We acknowledge the confidential nature of the therapeutic relationship. We respect every client's right to privacy and will not disclose any personal or health information without the client's explicit written consent, except as required by law.
5. Scope of Practice and Professional Image
We conduct ourselves and our business within our authorized scope of practice under New Jersey law and maintain a professional image in all client interactions, communications, and public representations.
6. Do No Harm
We accept responsibility to do no harm — physical, mental, or emotional — to our clients, colleagues, or ourselves. When we identify a risk, we address it. When a condition is beyond our scope, we refer.
7. Clear and Appropriate Boundaries
We maintain clear professional boundaries in every interaction. We recognize the trust clients place in us and honor that trust in every aspect of the therapeutic relationship.
Rules of Ethics
The following rules are mandatory and enforceable. Violation of any rule is grounds for immediate termination of the therapeutic relationship.
1. Legal Scope of Practice
All services are delivered within the legal scope of licensed massage therapy in the State of New Jersey. We do not diagnose, prescribe, or provide any service that requires a separate license or medical credential we do not hold.
2. Zero Tolerance for Sexual Misconduct
We absolutely prohibit sexual conduct or sexual activity of any kind involving clients. This applies to therapists, staff, and clients alike. Any session where this boundary is violated will be terminated immediately. Law enforcement will be contacted if warranted.
3. Truthful Representation
We represent our credentials, training, and services accurately in all advertising and communications. We do not misrepresent certifications, fabricate client outcomes, or make claims that exceed the evidence base for massage therapy.
4. Protection of Client Confidentiality
We never disclose client identity, health history, session notes, or any personally identifiable information to third parties without written consent, except where disclosure is compelled by law or required to prevent imminent harm.
5. Right to Refuse Service
We reserve the right to decline or discontinue service when continuing would be unsafe, unethical, or outside our scope of practice. We exercise this right without penalty when the refusal is in the client's interest or required for safety.
Our Commitment
These principles are not paperwork. They are the reason Vita Mobilis exists. We hold ourselves to this standard because our clients are trusting us with their bodies, their health history, and their recovery. That trust is not taken lightly.
If you ever have a concern about the conduct of a Vita Mobilis therapist or staff member, please contact us directly at contact@vitamobilis.health. We take every concern seriously and will respond promptly.
